Rank these brands
Just for fun, in your order of personal preference (note I did not say from best to worse), also, feel free to add to or remove from the list (these are just the brand names I often see on this forum), just want to get an idea of what brands generally come out on top and which ones generally end up at the bottom:

unless you've owned one of each, or at least spent considerable time comparing them, this is just not really possible is it?
and you left out Gibson. |

Sorry, but there are too many brands of impressive musical instruments on that list for me to pick only five.
Martin is a touchstone for me in a way that no other brand is or could be, even though I only acquired two keepers for my personal working guitar collection in the past four years. But a 1939 Martin 000-28 was the first truly world class guitar that I played after I’d gotten competent enough to discern its quality, and playing it was both revelatory and a genuinely formative experience for me. It gave me a taste for 14 fret Triple O’s and OM’s that is never going to go away. Wade Hampton Miller |

Pointless to rank. They all have their strengths. It just depends what tone you are looking for and your budget.

I'm just here to read the comments...my ears aren't good enough to participate.

Okay, I'll play. (Why not? I'm not playing God. I've tried all these brands and I have opinions that are as valid as anyone's.) I'm going by the best examples I have played of each. I've played many more Collings than Froggy Bottoms, for instance, and more than enough Taylors and Martins to pass judgement. But these are ranks, not grades: I've played many an Eastman that I would enjoy playing daily. They are all fine instruments.

I've only had 3 of those brands in my hands. Acoustic guitars that is.

For what it’s worth (very little), here is a list from top to bottom that reflects my experience with the guitars I’ve owned and had considerable experience with.

I've only played a Taylor, Martin, McPherson, Eastman, and Collings. Given these choices, I'd be more likely to own a Taylor, Martin, or Eastman. To me and my ability (or lack thereof), the McPherson and Collings are not worth the extra money.

Greenfield, Goodall, Froggy,Santa Cruz, Lowden,
are my top 5 in the order of preference. Notice the #1 slot is one not on the OP list but is the best of the best IMO. |
