Custom Composite Acoustics "AGF Special" anyone?
Well folks, I was going to order a limited run of custom CA's for LA Guitar Sales but then I though it would be much more fun to order a limited run available only to members of the AGF. This "AGF Special" can be any model but because this is the Acoustic Guitar Forum lets leave the Blade out. Also I would like it to be a non standard color like say an OX in RT blue, or high gloss black, or perhaps a GX in RT black, but we can talk bout that later. For now lets figure out which model you would you like the "AGF Special" to be based on. I will let this poll run a week or so then we can discuss the finish.
I plan on asking CA to incorporate AGF in the serial number and JR has offered the use of the AGF logo but we are starting with a blank slate here so please post any ideas you might have. If you have any questions you can either post them here or email me. Ted Almost forgot, part of the proceeds from each guitar will go directly to the AGF, and it seems the first two are already sold, one to JR and one to me. Many of you have emailed me about the pricing on this guitar which really can't be estimated till we figure out the model and options, but I can tell you that the AGF Special will not cost you more than a similar standard model from us. Bottom line, you will get a great deal on a very special guitar and you will be supporing the forum as well. Last edited by Ted @ LA Guitar Sales; 01-05-2010 at 03:14 PM. |

I have a GX high gloss that I like a lot. I've been thinking about trying an OX too but I really don't care for the rosette on that model or the open back tuners. Design a high gloss OX with a less industrial looking rosette and the Gotohs from the GX model and I might be interested.

If we do pick the OX it will have Gotoh tuners for sure. As for the rosette, I'll call CA tomorrow but I think we can have what ever we want.

What is their process for making the rosettes? If they're just laser-printed decals, it would be very cool if we could each design our own custom rosette.

I am very interested in an OX- but would prefer the Raw finish- not only looks great and natural, but keeps the costs WAY down. I agree that the tuners should be upgraded, as well as the rosette- I am not a fan of the current one.

OX Raw with Gotoh tuners or Cargo Raw with soft cutaway.

An OX with a high gloss finish and no electronics would do it for me.

Super idea, Ted.
What would interest me most would be an OX Raw, and with electronics.

Appreciate carbon fiber guitars. Really dislike CAs. Love Rainsongs. Want to hear more about it if you do a AGF Rainsong.

Just the opposite here. Could never bond with my Rainsong, but I love the CAs. However, their gloss finish has always seemed too slippery to me for some reason. I like the new slightly rougher raw finish that is on my Cargo.

Why is the OX so popular? It is a cutaway and doen't have a very pleasing shape...

I am surprised that the OX is so popular, I thought for sure it would be the GX or GXi.

Outstanding idea! I think the GX might be the most versatile, and the black RT sound incredible.

Being that I already own a custom OX I vote for a GX RAW.
