Default Chord Help-D...I think

Hello All!

Can someone help identifying this chord?

Those are frets if not obvious. I believe it is D, major possibly, but not sure what the A note on the 1st string adds.

Yep, it's D, and the A note adds - er - the A (the 5th) . Otherwise you just have roots and 3rd.
