Default Anyone have a short scale x7 or similiar?

I love my x7 but if I could get smaller and lighter Id trade. I know I'm a ultra light freak.

You might look for a used X5. I haven't seen any for sale, but I haven't been looking. From my perspective, you can get too small.

Used X5 would be smaller.

It's discontinued, but Emerald has been known to make discontinued models before.

When you say you want to trade for a "short scale X7 or similar", are you talking about the original X7 with the centered soundhole?

Don't the centered and offset soundhole model X7's have the same scale?

I think the Cargo is 22.75" and the X-7 is 24 inches.

The Blackbird Rider might be an option for someone looking for a reasonably small good sounding guitar.

It would be a custom x7 to be a 12 fretter. Id have better luck trading for an x5

Wade, if you want to talk seriously to anyone about a trade, you'll need to renew your charter membership and post this in the Classifieds. Thanks...

Default X7 Short Scales

Hey Wade63! I've been watching the site for a long time, registered several months ago, but never posted until today. I actually have short scale X7s Alistair made for me, as well as a nylon short scale X7 nylon with a freak maple top that should be coming my way shortly. I had them made with a 21" scale and woody tops (they are tuned up to "A" and are terrific piccolo guitars!

If I could figure out how to attach photos I would (someone please message me how and I will upload). Alistair also made me a short scale nylon Amicus with the slotted headstock and tie bridge that I tune up an octave - which is a blast!

I've been playing guitar for almost 40 years and Emerald acoustics are now the only acoustic guitars I own - and I've owned a lot of guitars over the course of my life. I'd definitely go with the short scale X7.

Chris

Wade63, There are differences between the X5 and the X7. I bought one of each for my wife. The X5 is thinner, and has a smaller body less low end sound than the X7 - which is why Rose recently took possession of a custom woody X7. By my crude measurements, the X5 has a max body depth of 2 1/2", compared to 3 1/2" max body depth for the X7. And the scale length appears to be only 1/8" difference: 23 7/8" for the X5 and 24" for the X7. So, if you really want the larger, deeper body of the X7 with a significantly shorter scale length, your best bet is to contact Sean or Alistair and get the ball rolling on a custom order.

Welcome, dub. Wow, you’ve made quite an entrance...you’re really serious about the small X7s and Amicus! All of the them are beautiful.

Just curious...what is the overall length of the short scale 12 fret amber maple X7? Do you have any experience with such small guitars of other builders? Obviously Emeralds are your liking, but I’m wondering if you’ve tried others to help you arrive at your Emerald preference.
