Sanding fingerboards is not exactly the lightest work....!!! Bruce, the back looks perfectly OK with the perf done that way, just don't charge too much extra for that feature...!! Thanks for the come back.

No need to fret, Tom, for I am doing that myself. And I'll offer up a pic of it when it's done. The frets, that is.

Bruce: Nice inlays with the bird design. Wonder if you get any feedback from clients on the EVO frets in re: to color and durability. To me they appear much more durable and also easier to work. Some folks don't seem to like the color but I find they harmonize very nicely with guitar woods that are under finish. No more regular fret wire for me. As an aside, you seem to have a flare for photography.................. I always enjoy along with the posts.

Great to see you're back to prime, and doing what you do best, Bruce. Your work is always inspiring to me.

Plus one on the EVO frets. I started using this wire about two years ago, and now you'd have to threaten me with mayhem to make me use anything else. I particularly like that it's a harder, more durable alloy than nickel-silver, but it doesn't trash my fretting tools the way stainless steel does.
I heard that the EVO gold alloy was originally developed for use in eyeglass frames.

Exactly as TheEd Said. I first used the wire 6 or 8 years ago, most for the color effect, and couldn't help but notice that the fretting went unusually well. Within a year I started using it exclusively, and I've never looked back. No one has out right complained, especially after I mention that since starting to use it I have not even once had to perform a fret mill due to wear. I seriously doubt that that is because no one is actually playing my guitars!

Now I can also say with certainly that the fret ends simply never seem to have trouble staying down with this EVO stuff. I cannot explain it as they seem to be the same thickness as other wire I've used, and if anything they may be a little stiffer. Using EVO sort of feels like cheating to me!

One vote for the gold one since it matches the fret wire. Looking good!

Apropos of nothing the fan fret model of yours at Gruhn is very nice. I would love to see it some day. Maybe either here or on UMGF, there was a build thread for a pernambuco fan fret OM/000-ish sized model with the same cutaway as the gruhn model. Truly drool-worthy.

i have made 25 to 30 JB guitars with similar aesthetics to the one in Gruhn. JB are my fully asymmetrical MultiScale guitars, and they range from 0 to Jumbo in size. The one in Gruhn's is the biggest size, being 16" across the lower bout. It is made from Jatoba with a spruce top. Although the guitar in question is brand new, it was made long enough ago that the price currently looks spectacularly low to me. Gruhn's is possibly the wrong shop for such a contemporary instrument, I sometimes think, but I thought the guitar was good enough to shame its more traditional competition, so I gave it a shot. There are several build threads here in this forum on my JB series guitars, but for reasons beyond me the search function fails to find them.

Hey Bruce. Love those tuners.

And they even put your initial on them.

I will ship the Mini-D on Monday, most likely. Today I recorded and sent Reel Des Accordeonistes (Marcel Messervier) to the lucky owner as a demonstration of playability and tone. Still have to take the final documentary pictures.

I make a serious effort not to work one day a week, usually Sundays. Is this work? Batchelders
