It's not a bolt-on neck. It's a Simple Dovetail. It's a machine carved straight dovetail instead of a hand carved compound dovetail.
Good luck with it. Let us know what you think. |

Sure I read somewhere on here ‘simple dovetail’ was a rather cheeky term for bolt on so that’s where I got that from. Not that I care that much so long as it sounds and plays good!

I have played a used Furch RS-31SR at the "New Acoustic Gallery" (in Germany) a few times that I really really like. It is not exactly a D28, but it has some characteristics of one. I have a D28, otherwise it would have followed me home before now.

Surely there must be a place where you could compare a D-28 head-to-head with a variety of other quality guitars. If you still think Martins are special after some real side-by-side comparisons, it will motivate your money saving. If you discover that you like something as well or better that costs less, that will save you money now, and head off disappointment down the road.

Just get a D-28. If you buy something else you’ll still want the D-28, just save yourself some time and money and get what it is you really want.

^^^true. But if you can get over the headstock magnetism, take a look at a Larrivee. Best value for a small-shop USA made instrument.

^^^I'll agree with this but the Larrivee D-03R will not sound like the new D-28. A fine guitar in it's own right but certainly no Martin?

If you can swing it get the Martin. I have done the same thing in the past with other brands.
I wanted a Takamine GJ72CE in natural finish to match my GJ72CE-12 String. They didn't have one in a natural finish. They said they could order one but I wanted to buy now. So I bought a GD93. Really happy with the GD93 but I still want that GJ72CE. Save enough to get the financing to an comfortable level and get your D-28.

Glad to hear it. I played a used one at GC and I swear it was the best sounding dread there that day. They just wanted too much for it, imo.
