I guess the new Rainsong series was made with folks like you in mind. I hope this strategy is going to work out well for them.

Personally I prefer a guitar which does not pretend to be something it is not. Then again... I do own an Aristides electric with a marble finish.
What he said. Exactly. Except for the final sentence. I have no electrics, and don't want any. Although I like to listen to good Country telecaster work.

No me tomes el pelo (in honor of your forum name). Carbon fiber gives the designer/builder the opportunity to take the ergonomics to another dimension (from those old-fashioned looking wooden guitars), while still sounding and playing great.

I can appreciate a classic... but I don't live in the past.

Considering that Rainsong has been making an OM for close to 20 years: Rainsong CO-OM

They don't currently make an OM with wood veneer, like their Vintage and Nashville guitars, but if those become popular, it might be just a matter of time...

I agree that we'll see a Vintage/Nashville OM from Rainsong sooner rather than later...

Scott;

Are you sure that wasn't Champion Leg Pullers? As you can see, I'm amazed you apparently have not perused the beautiful Emerald carbon fiber/woody hybrids.

That's how it starts.

You have an interest, maybe make a comment. Enablers show a bunch of pics of what can be done/had with the material. Then you buy one because you need a camping guitar or "beater". Then you have 2, then 3, then.....

Yeah, come for the impervious nature of CF and stay for the comfort and tone. It's not better, just gloriously different.

It grows on you..... VERY quickly. Next thing you know you just pull the plug.... on your humidifier. The screams of the woodies notwithstanding.

I haven’t simply because I never found one I liked visually or tone-wise close to my 000. Plus living where I do, I don’t have much in the oof humidity issues.

Remind me how many Emeralds or other carbon fiber guitars you have played so far?

I took the CF plunge half a dozen years ago because of willful children and my peripatetic lifestyle. Originally meant it to be a robust stopgap until I could keep my nice woods from getting damaged. Needed a beater that I didn't have to worry about.

Now I haven't bothered to get that nice Taylor I had my eye on and somehow have ended up with three carbon fiber guitars that all play great. They are the only guitars I play these days. One's about a dread size and is my goto guitar for any flattop needs. Another is about the size and has similar vibes to the old Gibson L-1 (think Johnson style blues guitar) and my last is a jazz box that is similar to an L-5 or Eastman in sound and deliverance. It's a beast and from what I can tell so far is ideal for jazz from dixie to django.

The two flattops both have exposed carbon, but I went with all the bells and whistles on the archtop. It's got a veneer and can fool the casual observer into thinking it's a wood guitar. Not sure I am happy about that or not because I like the weaves too. Here's a picture for you to consider.

I imagine Ted at LAGS has already discussed with RainSong about expanding the spruce topped vintage line to the other body shapes. It might take some practice for them to get the black glossy back and side finish to work along the tight curves of a cutaway without getting overspray on the top and achieve that black binding like result I see on my V-DR.
