Default Warped Fender Strat neck...HELP!

Hey guys!

So recently I decided to bust out my '57 reissue Strat, and well to my surprise the guitar couldn't tune right and there was significant buzzing. That's when I realized that my neck was warped from being over humidified. Is there anyway I can fix this on my own, or do I have to take it to a luthier? Please let me know!

Thanks guys!

questions:

bowed or twisted?
do you recall the humidity level where the guitar was kept?
was it kept in a case or leaned up against a wall?
was the guitar in a higher then usual pitch when you first busted it out?
do you have pix? (pixs are very much needed for internet triage)

generally when a guitar is too moist the neck relaxes and string tension pulls the neck upward and the action increases.

Hi Arie,

thanks for your response. So well...I think my neck is bowed. The strings actually lie right on top of the frets (which is the cause of my string buzz). I think the humidity level was around 80% for about a few weeks, and I left the guitar outside it's case. As for the pitch of the guitar, what happen was that I left the states for a while, so I de-tuned my guitar to give it some slack. When I came back, I forgot to tune it back up. Well, when I finally decided to play, I tried tuning, and that's when I came across the problem.

As far as pix, I don't have any, I wish I had a digital camera, but my last one broke on me and haven't been able to purchases another.

Again, any help would be appreciated with the neck. Thanks!

Did the nut break maybe? Have you tried the truss rod? Remember to adjust it a little at a time. If it is truly bent a Guitar Tech could maybe heat it and bend it back to shape.

Considering the questions you are asking, I suggest you take it to a tech.

The bridge may be too low or the truss rod too tight or the tension in your whammy springs is too low or ...

It needs to be seen to be diagnosed.

ok. first thing you might wanna do is try to get the humidity in your place under control. strive for around 40-50%. and see if this helps. your guitar might dry up a little and your problem could be solved.

other then that I think you need professional advice.

hope this helps
