The builders who Rely on Marketing...
Will Always produce something 'different'... Then later on rationalize, justify, and invent why 'the thing' is an 'awesome' thing. When really, all it was was a different thing. To drive sales. Not for advancement, for sales. There is a big difference, and a very important one. Then the marketing division gets ahold of it. After the 'different' (not awesome, just different) thing has been created. Then all the sudden there is 'irrefutable evidence' why the 'new thing' is an Awesome thing. When in reality, all it is is a Different Thing. But they Want you to Believe the awesome came First, but it did not, the awesome is always fabricated after the fact. Different comes first, everything follows that. That's It. Different. That's what drives sales. Different is Exiting, and Exitement drives Sales, Period. The rest can all be made up, fabricated, and then backed up at a later date. When you understand the reality of sales and how it works... This kind of thing all comes off as just a silly game. And the people who jump on the bandwagon are just as clueless as the day is long. But they get duped into believing. The strategy Totally (usually) works. And so they will keep doing it, over and over. Something Different. That's all that really matters. Not innovative, that part is made up and fabricated to suit the story. But different. That's what drives sales. And it works. Time and time again it works on the public.

I think the 652 (no port) but the beveled cutaway look looks interesting. Wonder how sounds ?

Cool! A sound port that's aimed at player's left knee (assuming a right-handed player, here).

This is the first time I have seen a soundport on the treble side - all the ones I have seen so far have been on the bass side on the basis that it would better impart the sound directly to the player.

Honestly, I don't know how the GPs are doing for Taylor as a product, but I can tell you that there is absolutely no used market for them unless you are willing to sell at a huge loss. |

I like the look -- but the proof is in the playing
So I am a Taylor guy, and I do like how this new take on the 816ce looks, but I can't imagine how it actually sounds. Youtube videos cannot do that for me, nor can other's impressions (sadly) however well written (looking at you OP).
When one shows up at the same time as I do at my local music store in Spokane, I'll certainly be checking it out though. Ya gotta give Andy Powers props for innovation though, and that's from a company that is all about innovation to when Bob was the guy. $0.02

These things honestly sound great. The only thing people don't like about them is that they don't sound like a Martin or have the low end they think they need. I think that tonally they are amazing, I just think I'm covering too much of the same ground sonically with two.

Such a was of R&D.... Lets put a sound hole in a location frequently covered by the players hands and the player cant even hear it.. How many years are we waiting for a 1.75 inch nut?
