Zoom QRHD Video-Recorder-Does Anybody Use One?
As I've only joined this Forum comparatively recently, maybe this has been discussed before,
Has anyone on here, ever used this Recorder? I had the forerunner-the H2, sound only, but having bought and used this model, for the last few months, I have nothing but praise for it, Recording an Acoustic Set, or a live Rock Band at a big Venue, I am stunned at the sound quality, as you may know, it takes an SD card, so processing the result is relatively easy, OK, I know you can't single -track anything, but I've used it to record straight acoustic guitar and voice, with fantastic results, sure, it has its limitations, but as an easy recorder, portability, it's not bad, one major shortcoming: because its HD video (720-1080) it eats batteries, but for £170-it ain't that bad a deal. Sorry-Typo in Title Tag-Should be Q3HD...... Last edited by Scotty12string; 06-29-2013 at 02:38 PM. |

There's a Q2HD that's current and a Q3HD that's discontinued. I can't find any info on a QRHD.
I've used the Q3HD with external mics/mixer and had very nice results.

If it's a Q3-HD you are inquiring about, then there are several videos on my YouTube channel where I used one. Here is one example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHFCTw-Zc9M The guitar does not have a pickup, and I am just using the built-in Mics on the Zoom. I am very happy with the camera, but if I have one nitpick, it's that it doesn't come with a remote. At that price point, I guess I shouldn't expect one, but even an optional (extra cost) remote would have been nice. Lastly, I bought the accessory kit for mine which comes with a mini tripod, case, and an AC adapter. I would highly recommend the AC adapter as they definitely eat batteries otherwise. hth, Gary |

May I off topic here? Would you mind show me that kind of clips? YouTube maybe? Thanks

I created a "video booth" setup at our last guitar party, using the Q3HD, an M-Audio DMP3, and a pair of AT3035s. This combo made a nifty one button recording rig that was almost easy enough for a guitar player to use without tech support <grin>. Here's a playlist of the clips I captured: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...PH_Yw_6oVibMA3
I've done several posts related to the Q3HD on Homebrewed Music (in my sig). A comparo with a couple of other cameras http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2010/...the-zoom-q3hd/ A comparo with the iPhone 4 http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2010/...d-vs-iphone-4/ Using a stick-on wide angle lens to get the mics closer to the guitar http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2011/...de-angle-lens/ Trying unusual camera angles to get the mics closer to the guitar: http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2011/...the-zoom-q3hd/ Using a pocket recorder (Zoom H2) as a powered mic for the Q3HD: http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2010/...t-the-zoom-h2/ Sticking the Q3HD and a couple of other pocket cams on the guitar for some unusual angles: http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2011/...uitar-cam-fun/ Free tools for tweaking Q3HD audio: http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2012/...ak-q3hd-audio/ The lack of any audio input makes the Q2HD slightly less flexible. I wasn't aware that the Q3HD had been discontinued, that gives me hope that there's an upgraded Q coming fairly soon. Fran
