Default Yairi

I love Yairis (K. Yairi, not S. Yairi) so I'm going to widen my net to see if anybody has any Yairi that they are looking to move. I like Yairi dreads and I'm always looking for a DY-52 'Canyon Creek' model (slope shoulder, coral rosewood/jacaranda back) but I would also be interested in non dreads, like the AY-20 or the FY-40. There are a few of the aforementioned, as well as a DY-52, on Reverb/EBay but I always like to see what the folks on AGF have as I always find that people are much more knowledgeable and realistic than elsewhere online.

So let me know what Yairis you got in the closet not being played by sending me a PM.

Thanks.

Rob

My sister has a S.Yairi that I got her in the early 80’s....not sure of model...nice guitar.
She doesn’t play much...I play it on visits infrequently.

Well, darn, not sure how I missed this. I just sold my '76 DY-74 and my '81 DY-57. A guy from down in Denver bought them both. Great guitars, they were.

Good luck in your search, especially for the AY-20 as they are scarce. I searched for 3 years before I found one. Didn't keep it long, though, as the neck was too slender for me. Cool guitar, though, I enjoyed cleaning and tuning it up.

Can't beat a good Yairi for the money!

I have a an Alvarez Kazuo Yairi- CY-116
if you are interested in a classical.
Cedar top, Burly Mahogany B/S.
I’m open to offers. Bought new maybe a decade ago. Has a significant ding on the top. it was covered with a protective coat to protect the wood, but tge blemish is still obvious.

Best on your search!

I had a boss Hog/Cedar OM in the mid 90s. My pal still had it last time we talked!

I was thinking about picking up a DY76 (12 string) that I found online. However, I just found out that it would be laminate back and sides. Forgive my ignorance, but I thought all Yairis were all solid

Nope, the vast majority of them are laminated back/sides but you needn't worry about that as Yairi did lamination in a while different way that was a home run.
