impedence and hybrid guitars
Good Afternoon
I have a Godin A6 Ultra which has an "acoustic" pickup in the bridge and a humbucker. My knowledge is limited on these things but isn't ONE of those "high impedence" and one "low impedence?". I have a Soundcraft mixing board and it has two inputs which have the Hi-Z push button. I don't notice any difference in sound but I'm thinking one or the other is correct. And when I switch guitars to my Taylor 314CE with the regular acoustic pickup setup..that's low Z right? Any hints in the right direction appreciated! |

The humbucker in the A6 also runs through the preamp so it is also low impedance. It will work fine though into a Hi-Z input.

An active guitar with a battery should be fine into low-Z or high-Z, with maybe a slight preference for low-Z. A passive guitar will only work correctly into high-Z.
