outside of the plates, top and bottom are essentially done, sans some dressing. Sticking with the black and green motif I think I must have been channeling Ben Wilborn on the rosette. Trying to keep the back inlay as simple as possible so it wont fight the crazy grain lines but reflects the symmetrical taper there in the back center.

closer shot of rosette
I got some interesting binding from Rothco and Frost, £8, and though it was too gaudy for binding this guitar segments were good for splashes of color.

Very interesting, brother John! But can you go even closer with a picture of that rosette?
I mean, how do you expect us to steal, er, borrow ideas we can't quite see? Looking good for sure, SK |

here is a close up. Clearly I have some touch up work to do on the Triangle, but you get the idea. I may just inlay that entire right piece of green purfling again. Three steps forward, three back.

Cool stuff John! I like the green. Pretty as it is, I think it will really pop under finish! Nice work!!

The back is braced and on
Nothing like a little close up photography to show where you need to sand. At any rate here is the back all braced up and glued to the rim.
Hope to get the top on today.

Starting the neck
So the gentleman from Hawaii for whom I am building this guitar wanted a maple neck. I went wood prospecting and found a good plank. It’s slab cut so so when three pieces are laminated together the neck will be quarter sawn, and there is plenty of curl to jazz up the looks.
Laminating in process After the neck is cleaned up, you can see the curl and the black green black lines between each maple segment. Grooves are cut for carbon fiber reinforcement and a two way truss rod. I run the carbon fiber all the way through the peg head to reinforce that joint.

A little bit of begging....
Please, please, please...sound clips before the guitar goes out.... This guitar is going to be spectacular visually, and I would bet it will be spectacular sounding as well. Though I would do a bit of pre-begging now, before it is too late. ha ha.. |

Looking awesome, John. I was not initially a fan of the B&W ebony, but it has been growing on me, and now I think it will look great. I really like the green in the rosette. Another dynamite Kinnaird taking shape.
