I prefer 2 and 1/4” at the saddle. 2 and 1/8” is a bit cramped and I’d rather not play anything wider than 2 and 5/16”.
Best,
Jayne

Default Spacing.

1 13/16ths nut and 2 5/16ths saddle.

2 3/8 is very comfortable for finger picking but a tad too wide for strumming/

my best fingerstyle guitar was a Collings 002H I shouldn’t have traded.
It had 1 13/16 nut and 2 5/16 saddle.
which is my preferred spacing for everything.
I can’t do 2 5/32, so pretty much eliminates contemporary Martins for me, but I’ve found great models from most brands who will get me at least 1 3/4 nut and 2 1/4. I have a couple exceptional sounding Adi topped guitars that I “settle” with 2 3/8.

AFAIK anything narrower is for comping / rhythm style.
I 100% agree with this.
