J-45 would be (is) the ultimate keeper for me. In my opinion you can't beat it for versatility. I use mine for everything from fingerstyle blues, travis picking, folk and singer-songwriter stuff, and even flat picking. Hard for me to imagine giving mine up for any other guitar (other than maybe a vintage J-45!)

What’s the saying about eggs and baskets?
What if the J needs a repair at a luthier for 6 months? Well, we are on an acoustic guitar forum and there are rules, aren’t there? BluesKing777. |

If I were to have one acoustic it would be my J-45 TV no question.

Are you crazy? Naw
Delusional maybe? Hmmmmm. If you can tame the voices telling you to buy another guitar. Good for you. Call me in a year. |

Didn't you just post a WTB ad for a J-15?

I absolutely LOVE my J-45 (I didn’t expect to love it this much) and it gets played the most out of all my acoustic guitars. But it’s not the loudest of instruments, especially in flatpicking situations when playing with other acoustic guitarists who play dreads. But I agree with bluesking777’s line of thinking - what if your J-45 is gone for a couple of weeks getting refretted, neck reset, repaired, etc. What if a guitar playing friend comes by without a guitar? Good to have at least one other guitar around.

Not if it is the guitar that works best for you. What’s crazy about that?

Thought I saw that too.
If you're going to have just one, J-45 is a fine choice. |

I have 10+ acoustics currently, including a J45. Some are for specific purposes - a travel guitar, a CF that I leave at my cabin and don't worry about humidity, etc., one I use just plugged in solo or with my band, a 12 string, and a bunch that I have that I just really love. But if I had to have just one it would be my J45.

A few summers ago, I walked into a Guitar Center in Boise, Idaho and strummed a smudged, nicked up, Gibson J45 with semi-dead strings. To this day, I acknowledge that it was the best acoustic guitar sound that I have ever heard. I should have bought it on the spot - a good J45 is all you need, don't let your mind play tricks on you!

Getting a j15 means I might keep the djr10.

Nope. A good J-45, D-28 or D18 are anyone needs. We just talk ourselves into more than that for various reasons. If I have to down to one, it would be my broken in D-28 Marquis. But, I am also on the hunt for a J45.

I might be in the NGD honeymoon phase still, but last week I received a SJ Banner from 2013 that I’ve been picking up first, and it has been last one of the day for me- J-45 is an excellent solo guitar choice. I have yet to reach that level of peace. |

Maybe, do it and see how it goes If the J-45 is not enough, you can always get something down the road.
