As did many AGFers out there, my first hearing of Eric Von Schmidt's name was when Bob mentioned him at the beginning of "Baby Let Me Follow You Down" from Bob's first album Bob Dylan.

There's a long deleted album out there from 1963 by Dick Farina & Eric Von Schmidt, with Ethan Singer and Blind Boy Grunt (aka Bob Dylan) which is pretty easy to find online. It's an interesting listen for Dylan completists.
