Default New song from my wife and I - please listen!

Balance

This is a song from a concept EP my wife and I are working on called the Balance EP. It's a demo we did in our living room with Audacity.

This is the title track/last song of the forthcoming album, and I'd love to hear your feedback.

Dan

Great song, nice arrangement. Your wife has a beautiful voice. I assume it may be because of the setting it was recorded in, but the guitar arpeggio comes out as a bit bass-heavy/muffled . It's also hard to make out the lyrics your wife is singing, again she sounds a bit muffled.

In the second part, the guitar strumming overpowers (a bit too loud) your wife a bit so again, it's hard to make out what she's singing. I like your subtle accompaniment in the background.

Other than the above, I think this is a wonderful song/arrangement.

Regards,
Dan

Thanks Dan!

Yeah I didn't have much time to tweak this so I threw a quick eq on that I'm usually pretty happy with but I think it did make it just a bit too bass heavy. I'll have to check those levels at the end. and here's the lyrics:

(04. balance – he is not God)
I am convinced that life is more than more or less
That living well requires living in balance
That if you are weighed in the balance and found wanting
What comes up wanting is
the balance that you lack

In all reforms and all regimes
Exist a set of vast extremes
A reactionary system of dichotomy

The premier action long forgot
We’re given only to react
And in reacting each side wins with something neither side believes
But we go on acting
in our disbelief

If God is love, he’s also war
And though he heals, sometimes he kills
And he is fierce
and angry, but strong
And he makes justice out of wrong

He is not God if only love
He is not God if only war
He is not God the way we’ve purposed him to be

Who could not hate a God of hate?
Could not abuse a God of love?
Could not refuse a God who’s any less than what He says He says He is?

He is not God if only love
He is not God if only war
He is not God the way we’ve purposed him to be

Who could not hate a God of hate?
Could not abuse a God of love?
Could not refuse a God who’s any less than what He says He says He is?

It is a fearful thing to wind up in the hands of an angry God
But it is fearful all the same
not to be caught in the hands

of one who loves and loves and loves
and loves because he loves
but tempers love with righteousness
because that’s who he says he is

Dan,

I agree with PangPang's comments above. Beautiful voice and great arrangement, but sounds a bit bassy, muffled. Otherwise, sounds terrific.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for the compliments on the arrangement guys. It means alot to me coming from everyone here, since my playing ability can't hold a candle to hardly anyone here.

I should've mentioned that this demo was recorded on my Taylor 310CE with my newly installed Colosi Bone Saddle, and I'm VERY pelased with it.
