Dink's Song - perhaps the earliest recorded folk song in U.S.
Served along with some grilled chicken wings.
John Lomax recorded a young African American woman singing this song as she washed her man's clothes along a Houston bayou in 1904 (maybe 1909, bad handwriting). Her name was Dink. The original recording was destroyed many years ago, but not before Lomax transcribed it and taught it to Pete Seeger. It was one of the oldest recorded folk songs in the US. Great song, Steve, a new one for me. And you are pulling some real nice dry tones from that guitar. Vocal just right

I'm fingerpicking on a 1964 Martin 00-21NY.
It was originally purchased by a young woman in Los Angeles, and it spent most of its life in the case under the bed. It's my favorite guitar. |

Great vocals, really suit the song.
But I'm just really hungry now. |
