Default looking for pickup thoughts

I just acquired a used Guild J2512E 12 string. The previous owner for some reason cut the UST cable about 1/8" off of the bridge plate when he removed the electronics (Yes I did know this when I acquired it). I do have the removed electronics.

As I understand, this uses a Fishman Sonitone system.

Right now funds are limited.
Is a repair of those 2 tiny wires even worth my try at it? I am fair with a soldering iron.
Guild will sell me a complete new system for $50.
I need to call Fishman to see if they will just sell the transducer.

Trying to keep this low to no dollar for now. I will replace it with a better system once I am employed again.

So I guess the question is, has anyone ever repaired a cut cable that is so close to the bridge plate?

If you can wait for China Post, it seems there is some gray market Sonitone on eBay.

Before putting an under saddle pickup in a guitar, I'd buy a JJB sound board transducer.

There is already a Fishman UST in there. The previous owner clipped the cable under the bridge plate.

Get rid of the sonitone and go with a JJB 330. Cheaper and much better. All the old sonitone will come out easy enough. You may need to drop a new saddle in after you’ve removed the UST.

Not certain how the JJB at 50 is cheaper than the Fishman at 50?

Also keep in mind, the question of viability to resolder the cut connection. Free

It seems like there is no risk in attempting to solder it back. Nice little afternoon project and I think you'd know right away if it worked. With the right wrapping, it should last just fine.

In the world of troubleshooting/lowest risk cost, it seems to me that soldering comes first, then ordering new supplies from Fishman.

Unless you are under a time crunch for a gig?
