Thanks Tim…
The box just arrived, so I will let it warm up overnight before unboxing it tomorrow…. Today was my last day of work for 2023 so the timing is perfect.

Initial Playing Impressions:
Despite the high density of the Malaysian Blackwood, the guitar is fairly light (3 lb. 14 oz.). The fit and finish is as good as it gets, and the set up is plays like a dream. The guitar came set up with D’Addario XT Phosphor Bronze 12-53s which I don’t play much. I will change them in a few weeks.
It is always difficult to describe a guitar’s timbre with words as it is to capture it with microphone. I will try… The guitar is balanced in volume and tone across the strings and maintains the tonal strength of its voice even in the upper registers north of the 12th fret. In terms of time domain, it has a immediate attack and fairly long sustain. It presents clear, round notes that have sonic weight with some additive warm overtones, but less than a rosewood guitar. The bass is quite articulate with some bloom and the trebles are round with some ambient shimmer. It is a responsive instrument maintaining its tonal character with both a light touch with one’s fingers to a hard attack with a heavy plectrum. For the types of chord melody tunes that I play these days with 3 and 4 note jazz chords played in multiple positions across the fretboard, the string balance, note clarity and round timbral weight of notes sound GREAT! I am sure like all lightly built luthier made instruments, it will continue to develop with play and time.

Despite the difficulty of capturing a guitar's timbre with words, you managed to convey a great deal about the sound of your new Circa, and it (unsurprisingly) sounds like an impressive instrument, sonically matching it's visual appearence. Congratulations and happy holidays!

Wow, I can't believe I missed the update on this one!
She is GORGEOUS! Congratulations, and way to teach us a masterclass on how to celebrate the holidays! I didn't really appreciate the details in the rosette until I saw the glamour photos. WOW. Classic Slobod - understated elegance. Love it. Happy holidays! |

iim7V7IM7, my Circa buddy, I'm glad you're digging the guitar! Very cool that our guitars got delivered within a day of each other. Hope to see you in 2024.
