Tim Pierce the studio ace did a whole show on YouTube just recently about the Sire Larry Carlton 335 copy. He had a lot to say about it, and almost all of it was positive. He’s neither a sponsor of or spokesperson for Sire brand guitars. He just seems to think that at an $800 buy in you get a good playing, good sounding 335 style guitar.

Yes. I have an S7. I drove two hours to a store where I could directly compare it to a player-grade Strat, a Robert Cray Strat and a PRS Silver Sky. It wasn't even a close call. The rolled fretboard edges and fretwork are fantastic.

Not seen one in person, but I've literally heard nothing but good things.

The only one I have ever seen was in the hands of Larry Carlton when he played a couple of shows locally. Sounded great, it was the only guitar he used for two shows that particular night and that seemed like a pretty strong recommendation.

Thanks for the replies. I was glad to hear Larry say that many of the Gibson 335's were hit/miss. I had a 2011 Mr. 335, was overbuilt, heavy, great sound, and I sold it after about a decade. I ordered one of these H7V hollow bodies. I've grown really fond of imported hollow bodies since my PRS SE HB piezo.

I've been tempted to get one of their Telecaster hybrid models. It really is amazing what is coming out of the asian factories these days. Heck, I bought a Harley Benton PRS knockoff used in mint condition for $160 a few months ago as a joke because I hate PRS guitars and I wanted to kind of prank the rest of my music mates with my PRS POS... It blew us all away how well made it is.

I've heard nothing but good things about Sire.

Just wondering why you hate PRS guitars. I know the looks can be love-it or hate-it, but otherwise I can't figure out what's to hate about PRS guitars.

I have a 1994 PRS Custom 22 that sounds great (after me swapping in Wolfetone Legend pickups), but there's two things that still bother me about it. I do not like the high frets and the way they are crowned, and I've NEVER liked the PRS headstock shape (I'm picky, I also dislike the Taylor headstock shape just as much). I got the guitar in a favorable trade deal so I don't complain too much about it. I just may have it re-fretted too.

Since 1997 I've owned about 25 different PRSi. Undoubtably the most evolved guitar maker in America. And I grew up with vintage Gibson's, so I was always under appreciating the PRS sound. Ultimately, grew to appreciate and learned to dial them in quite nicely. I'm seriously impressed with their off shore models the past few years.

They are just far too precious looking for my taste. I'm generally not a fan of over the top flame etc. A simple Telecaster is my go to and has been for many years. Most of my HB guitars just sit there mostly unplayed. PRS are obviously well made guitars, just not my thing.

I have a Sire H7,I got it as B stock from andertons,I think it cost me about £215,I changed the nut as it was poorly cut & was buzzing but otherwise it’s a great guitar.
