Chromesthesia
Is there a device that translates sound into colors?

Well, back in the 70’s, we had “color organs”, and they can still be had (or made) today. But you should keep in mind that those were the days when Pong was a compelling video game.
There are other means to this end, but I don’t think it would be accurate to deem them “devices”. |

There's this treatment you could put on your tongue which I tried in the 80s that did a pretty good job of it. Not sure it's for everyone, though.

I remember that. Worked great. The air could be seen in colors, too, and my friends. |

Yeah, I tried that a few times. I mean an actual device that would show a color assigned to a note.

There were guitars back when LEDs got into common usage, the fingerboard would light up with each note or chord played.

Anyone remember “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” from the late 70’s?
