I received mine this morning and fitted them to my OO-18.

First impressions:

1. Boy they sure do stretch a lot.
2. Feel a bit slippery.
3. Good volume.
4. Tone seems a bit subdued...hopefully they will break in.

I had a set of the new trial strings earlier this year and I really liked them. I was shocked. I don't typically care for Elixirs, but these were great. I tried to get in on the next go round, but to no avail. I wish I'd kept my set on instead of sending them back per the trial conditions. I did get a $20 coupon to Strings and Beyond for my trouble, which I used to buy a 3 pack of Elixirs for my daughters guitar. Win/Win.

Default Elixir Nanoweb 12-53

I received my test set last Friday and I strung up on Saturday. I didn’t like them at first, felt a bit muted but they are growing on me as they settle in. I didn’t pay much attention to the packaging. It looked pretty standard to me and didn’t realize it was a new formulation.

Me too - my string of choice for my Kinnaird FS12 - love the tone and playability. As for HD Lights, it's what Taylor ships out their 12-fretters with and I see no reason to argue with that for both my 712e and 612ce.

Well I just received my test set. They are the same model 16502 that are being sold retail so I’m not sure what the testing is about. I’ve never tried them so I’m looking forward to putting them on my Taylor 322 this weekend. Of course I will follow their guidelines and honestly report my thoughts on them.

It’s occurred to me that they are looking for converts and publicity. They seem like a very good product and what better way to generate some buzz than giving some away to your potential customers.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I got mine through a connection to Strings and beyond. I wondered if Elixir asked them what customers hadn't bought Elixirs and targeted them. Either way I'm glad to try them. Besides the strings they are giving a coupon for S & B.

I like the 80/20s quite a bit--not a big fan of the PBs.

Me too. Elixir 80/20 bronze are the strings I typically use on all my guitars. Love the tone and the feel.

I have used these for years as my main string. They last forever! I play everyday and I can go 3-4 months without a string change.

Well, I finished up my trial. My take...
Too slippery for my taste.
Tone is missing something I cannot describe. Maybe a bit muted? but not the same across all the strings. Guitar sounds a touch unbalanced.

I usually use EJ16's. I will stick with those.
If coated, I liked the EXP's...no longer made. Have not tried the XS's. Did try the XT's and they were too slippery. The Martin Lifespan 2.0 are pretty good also to my ears.

This stuff is so very subjective of course.

I hope I'll like them. I needed strings and grabbed a 3-pack on a great promo deal. I'm going to try them on my Alvarez Artist GA that used to wear the D'Add EXPs.

How the heck did you get free strings? I've been using these for years (decade?) on 5 guitars.

They offered me a free trial set if I would report back my thoughts.

Perhaps through Strings and Beyond...come to think of it, I think there also may be a coupon coming!

I’ve preferred non coated strings mostly playing John Pearse 600L and Martin Retros.
My initial reaction to the Nanowebs is pretty good. I put them on my Martin GP35E.They seem to have good note separation and rich overtones.
The feel of them seems to be less tension, very smooth almost slippery feeling.
My wife commented that they sounded nice and that’s a rare occurrence for her to distinguish sound differences in strings or guitars.
Not sure how they will be after a little break in but new strings usually sound better than the old ones and mine were fairly old.
I’ve seen many that seem to love these strings and I’m starting to see why.
Free strings, hard to beat that.

I have sweaty hands and these Elixir strings are the only thing I (am able to) use. They last forever and they sound good for a long time.
