I recently acquired my first classical guitar with a flat board and normally play with a capo. My other nylon strung guitars are crossovers, so I didn't have a flat capo.
I have Shubb stainless roller capos that replaced my old Shubbs, so I slipped the pad off of my old 12 string Shubb and straightened the top bar with a hammer. It works well enough, but if I stay with a flat board I'll order a new capo. My strong capo preference is for side knob adjustment, no squeezy / pokey capos or anything that looks like it's got a garage door spring on it for me. The side knob adjust capos adjust easily and minimize the tendency to over-tighten the capo. Many steel string players don't think about that, but the soft silver wraps on classical strings are easily damaged if a capo is put on too tightly. I'd order the D'Addario NS Classical, but the new Shubb Capo Royale looks nice, too. Some players like to simply cut any excess length off and round the edge that's cut off. The Shubb capos are the simplest if you do want to cut the excess length off. Last edited by Rudy4; 05-12-2023 at 08:24 AM. |

Check out Thalia capos, it comes with a bag of attachements for various radious boards. I got one for chirstmas from my wife many years ago. I've used it on nylon and steel strings of all kinds with no issue. Pricey, but the quality is there and its the only capo I've needed since.

I use Shubb 12 string capos on my classical guitars, work very well. although not as quick to change as the G7, imo the G7s slip too much on 2" necks

I like the Shubb, but I have used the Kyser for years and it has worked flawlessly.

Capo for classical guitar.
I used to use the Planet Waves classical modal. Seemed pretty good. However, I have recently tried the Shubb C-2. Far superior in my opinion
