Gibson repair question
For those with experience. What has the time frame been for you to get a guitar repaired by them in Nashville?
Background. 2012 AJ purchased new in 2012. Action getting high. Took it to an authorized Gibson repair shop near me. Was told it needs a neck reset but he didn’t want to do it. Suggested I call Gibson Service. Gibson Service says you’re in luck. There’s an authorized repair guy near you. Been there, done that, I replied. Finally got a Return Authorization from them and shipped the guitar to them. Confirmed they got it and waited a few weeks for and update. Update said they were busy and it might be six weeks. Waited six weeks and sent email. Waited a week for a response which never came. Called again. “We are busy. Could be six weeks.” I’m pretty sure this is a new six weeks. :-) Hence, the question. Rich.

I had a warranty service by Gibson that took around 8 weeks from door to door. I would imagine with all the guitars they sold over the past 3 years that the service guys are bowed up. You might be waiting a while longer for something as time consuming as neck reset. My job was not as invasive as yours. It was just a bridge pulling up on a brand new acoustic with a top refinish needed due to finish pull up.

Gibson repair
I don’t have any experience with Gibsons repair department, but I can tell you one thing.
If I was the original owner of the guitar and it needed a neck reset after just 10 years I’d be having a serious conversation with them about it. I’ve had guitars way older than that that weren’t even close to needing a reset. I’d be curious what answer they might have for you about needed a reset so soon.

That conversation will take place AFTER I have my guitar back. No sense poking the bear. I always keep my guitars in cases with humidifiers. Except the 66 Guild which I bought new when in college which knocked around the dorm and frat house and did the same 30 years later when my son took it to college. It’s still perfect. Maybe I treated the AJ too good.

Rich,
Wouldn’t Bozeman do the reset? I’d email Don Ruffatto…

When I contacted Gibson Service everything went through Nashville. I just assumed that Bozeman didn’t do repairs. Maybe I’m wrong Rich.
