Default Better than a Snark?

What's a little better quality and accurate clip on tuner?

The Polytune or Unitune. The Unitune isn't even that much more money.

I'd recommend the Peterson StroboClip HD

I retired my Snark for a Peterson StroboClip HD Clip-on StrobeTuner - High Definition. $60 but way more accurate.

In terms of accuracy, I have not found anything better than Snark.

In terms of build quality, pretty much any other tuner is better.

What makes the Snark so convenient, the swiveling stalk and plastic ball mount, is its boon and downfall. As long as you treat it like a raw egg, it's great. But stuff it in your pocket at a bluegrass jam on a campground, and it's as good as broken.

Korg Sledgehammer Pro. It doesn't look great, it's quite expensive, but it's accurate to within 0.1 cents, which is why I'm a fan. Never had a more accurate tuner.

Really? I'm convinced you already know the answer based on the sheer number of threads on this subject. So why?

Yep...I have both but the Unitune is less expensive and really works well.

I had a Snark. Seemed to eat batteries quick and the outside surface had a rubber coating that got all sticky/gummy after a year or so and hit the waste can for pretty much that reason. Bought a couple Mugig T-1 clip on tuners and they work great. Very easy to see when in tune or not. They seem accurate.

I wasn't a fan of my snark and think the stroboclip is a huge improvement.

The Polytune clip and Unitune are both strobe tuners. The accuracy is +- 0.02 cents for strobe.

The Snark is a chromatic tuner. The accuracy is +- 0.1 cents.

FWIW, the best pedal tuner is the Turbo Tuner. It has the same specs as the Polytune, i.e. it is a strobe tuner with accuracy to +- 0.02 cents.

After a couple Snarks broke on me I decided they were 'for the birds' as my mom used to say.
Been using the Planet Waves micro tuners since. Probably not THE most accurate, but it's definitely what I see the majority of acoustic performers (guitar, mando, fiddle) using on stage at shows & festivals.

Over and over again on these kinds of AGF threads two tuners get most of the praise: TC Polytuner and Petersen StroboClip. My experience is that both are great. So it boils down to personal preference about the screens and options each offer. My personal choice is the StroboClip.

Snark's +/- 0.1 is plenty close enough, beyond that use your ears.
