Whichever one is being played by a great fingerstylist that I am fortunate enough to be watching and hearing. I am definitely not a fingerstyle guitarist, but I love experiencing a great one do their thing.

I think Martin J 40 is a overlooked fingerpicker, but I still prefer my Martin OMJM

I have been fingerstyling on a lovely Guild G37B for 35 years now.
No one ever told me I was crazy (ok... they did, but not in connection with the guitar)

I've got a new favorite. Up until today, it was my Bourgeois JOM, but I think it's just been surpassed by my new to me Martin 000-17SM

I played one at Sam Ash a couple of weeks ago, and was mightily impressed but left without it. I decided to go back the next day and buy it, and it was gone! They're not that easy to find anywhere else these days it seems, but I managed to run one down.

Baranik Meridian. Huge voice, very articulate and very touch sensitive.

Nevermind that it's my only acoustic.

It depends...

I like my 1927 00-18 for most things that are pretty.

34 L-00 for blues or my B&S serenader if it needs that ladder braced thing.

Kel Kroydon does some mighty fine stuff that falls in the middle of those two.

Thats if its a little guitar sound.

If I need more oomph I can use my slope dreads 39 j-35 and '34 jumbo.

And last of all the D-18 if I want a really driving bass. That guitar is nuts on the low end, but still a blast to play. I just need to keep and ear on the beefy low E.

Basically, I'm saying every guitar can thrive given its the right performance and the right genre. I really wouldn't have like blackbird any less if Paul did iron a 00-28. It would still have been awesome.

Many owners of fan-fret guitars on this forum, myself not included...haven't had a chance to play one either. Search the forum for references, though.

Claimed advantages: better intonation, easier play, better tone, others...

Nope. I'm playing most of my fingerstyle guitar on an Alvarez AD-CK60, and have been playing that particular guitar (for most acosutic stuff) for about the past twelve years.

For ease of playing and tone, my Taylor 12-fret bto hog gc nails it. That's not to say it's my favorite guitar, just that I'm impressed how well it does what it's designed to do.
