Default Martin D-X2E

So I stopped by the local shop to pick up some strings and we’ll....I found a DX2E that I really like. I currently own a big baby that I really like but I like this Martin just as much but different. I would love to have a D-18 but my skill level doesn’t justify the price tag. Anyway, I’ve tried researching the DX2E but can’t find many reviews etc. Does anyone have one or has played one and would mind giving your thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help.

I used to have the version of this guitar that didn't have a pickup.
It definitely had the Martin sound, but not as loud as a solid wood guitar...

My first acoustic back in the day was a Martin DM, which was a solid top, lam b/s affair. I traded it a few years ago and miss it enough that I was thinking about picking up a D-X2E, which seems to be more or less the same thing. I'm not wild about the rosettes on them, though.

I have this version in the DX series and I absolutely love it. I play it more than my HD28. I picked it up online for $300. Sadly, it's discontinued now I think.

T
Thanks to everyone for the input. I may go ahead and pick one up. It’ll be a nice addition and give me something to play with a little different sound.

I compared the OOO-X1AE with the 000-X2E (successor) and I found that the "2" models are slightly different, but not that much.

* No Richlite on the fretboard
* No Stratabond Neck. Hardwood instead.
* Scalloped bracing instead of non-scalloped
* Supposedly better projection, but I haven't heard one to tell.
* Same HPL body and electronics

I bought the 000-X1AE with TSA hard case for less than $380 on clearance. A GREAT deal! I was looking for a rugged travel guitar that was not a mini-sized instrument and with good sound. I found it!

Good luck!
