Default Suggestions for all solid hog under £$1000

Hi guys,
i'm after an upgrade guitar specifically for fingerpicking.
Currently have a RK RD318 which is ace, but want something a bit smaller to fingerpick on the couch in the evenings.
Don't need electrics
All solid, preferably a bluegrassy sound (so was thinking all hog/sapele).

Was thinking:
Martin 00010e or Djr Sapele
Fender PM3 (or maybe PM1 they look like a small dread)...I have used a Fender classic series dread before and was pretty good actually.

Have ruled out Alvarez MFA66 as sounded very bright on samples i've seen.

Can only find one Eastman hog top on the web, and thats a parlour.

HELP!!

PS im in the UK so probably dont have as much choice as you guys over the pond

They are like gold dust to find used, saying that they generally only drop in price by £$200 when you see them and they go fast.
But yes, 000-15m is an excellent choice. To be honest i could afford one, but would worry about it getting damaged.

Anyone got an Eastman E10 OO ? seen a nice one of them used, but worried the scale length is too short.

Actually to add to the list. A Guild OM-120. Never played a Guild before, but this baby looks nice and under £500 in some stores.

If you have the chance in your country to try a Godin Metropolis Composer QIT I strongly recommend that you give it a try. the top and back are solid mahogany and the sides are layered mahogany. I had the opportunity to play one and it sounds amazing.

Actually thinking on. I guess the real question is what are the alternatives to a Martin OO15M. What i want is a small bodied Hog guitar with the longer scale length.

That rules out the DJR, the Eastman E10 OO (which i really like)

The more i think about it the only other option apart from the 0015 is the Fender PM-3

Guilds are more modern - "Taylorish" in tone than Martins just so you know. I have the Dreadnaught version of the OM-120, the D-120C.

If you can try in person, I'd recommend looking at the Alvarez again. Every 66 I've played (their all mahogany line) has been wonderfully mellow and not bright at all. I've tried both the Masterworks and Artist models and was very impressed. Good Luck!

I'm in the UK too and have two all mahogany guitars, both of which you could buy together second hand for about £700 and for less than a grand for the two new and they each include case or gigbag, so well within your budget:

The first is a Faith Mars slope dread - neck is quite skinny, but still fingerpicks pretty well. The other is a Vintage Gordon Giltrap 'JG', which is a sort of curvy 000 with a fitted Fishman humbucking pickup. The 'JG' is currently in open C, but doesn't sound too bad in standard or DADGAD too. With 'JG' though, you may well need to do a set up on it as the factory action has always been very high on the Vintages I've played.

I know you said mahogany top.

But a "left field" option could be the cedar topped Auden Neo Emily Rose.

I've played two of them. Play great. Sound great.

Have you considered the all mahogany sigmas? They look like a good deal to me.
