Thanks for sharing your skillful playing Doug and equally wonderful Claxton guitars. To my ears the 14 fret sounded the brightest, closely followed by the 12 fret and finally I heard the overtone laden maturity and chocolaty warmth of of your 13 fret guitar. I'd love to hear that 14 fret a few years from now because its going to be a stellar guitar as it blooms.

Doug, thanks for sharing this. I'm on the edge of either buying or commissioning a Claxton. Ed is an amazing guy and I've yet to play one of his guitars that didn't move me. Obviously the cost is high, but so it the value. I'm considering the different models and configurations. This is a helpful comparison.

Very cool. I've been browsing guitars online for years and only just recently realized a Claxton should around the very top of my wish-list.

I heard what Tim heard, pretty much exactly, except I liked the clearer, more focused bass of the new one, and perhaps the overall cleaner sound of it too. It sounded more powerful as well, to me. But that's listening from a youtube video.. today.. and who knows about in person! It's probable I'd like your chocolatey rich malabar the most.

By the way, yours sounds pretty warn out from all the playing. You should get one of those snappy new ones and send the 8 year old beater out this way. I'll use it as my workshop guitar....
