You obviously only read the title of an otherwise friendly thread.

Then I'm really sorry that you missed the essence of this thread.

It is a lighthearted and relaxed exchange on guitar tones.

In fact, the first and only disruptive post came in around #45.

In this recording the trebles sounded fine where the notes were picked solidly. In numerous places there were harmonics used and more lightly brushed trebles and naturally they sounded thinner and brighter.
Rick Shepherd's recent Taylor recording had some good sounding trebles so Taylor's can at least have solid sounding trebles on recordings.

Joe I must have misunderstood your statement that the Taylor was brighter than the Martin and didn't have the humf that your Martin did and if you could only have one guitar it would be the Martin. I don't know where I for the idea that this was a Martin sounds better than Martin statement. Must have been the fact that I can read English.

Since when is it a problem for people to politely express their preference? Should people never prefer anything over anything?

If you don't like this thread, move on.

Rick, your guitar sounds much "woodier", with stronger note fundamentals. Thanks for sharing.

Ok, wait a minute. Are you actually upset about someone else's opinion . . . of their OWN guitars..??

I could hear that myself. The Martin OM sound clip (the dry one) is my favorite between the Martin, Taylor, and the Gibson clips I listened to.

Is that like saying a Taylor is better than a Taylor?

Opinion are not facts, that's why they're called opinions. If someone doesn't like Martins it has zero impact on me, I'm not offended, don't start questioning my guitar choices, it's somebody elses opinion! It only applies to them, as my opinions are only truly valid in respect to myself, they are not universal truths.

I don't care for Taylors, to me they are too bright, so what, that's my opinion and it works for me. Somone elses preference is their opinion and their business.

It's only an issue if somone chooses to make it one, play what you prefer and allow others to do the same.................

This thread and others have been respectful through and through. But there's always going to be troublemakers in this world, unfortunately.

Joe, I did listen to the clip of your Martin OM-21, and I must admit, it sounds more lovely to my ears than any Taylor I have ever heard.

Thanks, Rick!

I'll try to put together a "real recording" with the Martin soon.
