I don't know how this one could have slipped my mind ... My Mom and Dad used to sing it years ago ... after my Dad customized the lyrics just a bit. I always admired their bravery, but it was a BIG hit wherever we went ...

"Who's Gonna Take the Garbage Out" by Ernest Tubb and Loretta Lynn

We're talking about CLASSICS here!!!

My Antonia by Dave Matthews and Emmylou Harris (and make sure there's Kleenex around )
Edit: never mind.... I just re-read your original request; you said you wanted 'up-tempo'! If you ever decide to go with a tearjerker tho', this would fit the bill.

When you work with Phuufme and his missus, you learn right away that you're never going to get real far trying to "out-pretty" them, so DonBob and his missus usually go for edgier or funnier stuff [although we do "Leather and Lace"] like
"Summer Wine"
"Jackson"
"You're No Good"
"Spiders and Snakes" -- this last one is a challenge. You have to let the woman sing all her quotes [which includes the refrain]. Since many of these quotes occur during the line and since it's an upbeat song, don't try this one cold. Audiences love it, though.

Weird duet song: "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly." Not sure who did it, but it's a hoot.

Nice thread, folks; and Sandy, thanks for the kind words.

-------------------------------------
"You've Got a Friend"
___________________________

Simon & Garfunkel (lots of great duet material, n'est-ce pas?)

"You're No Good"

Before he found fame, Jim Stafford used to play out on Sarasota's St Armand's Circle (on Lido Key) at a place called Tail O' The Pup

I even played a New Years Eve gig with him at the Lido Holiday Inn.
Getting to play "Wildwood Weed" with the original artist would be a highlight of any musician's career, yes?

Clever songwriter
