Default Classical Guitar - a little lost

I have recently developed an interest in classical guitar. Maybe just curious, I do not know why this interest. However, I would like to give it a go and see how it goes. I have downloaded some single note stuff for chord studies and a few melodies. But I only seem to find single note stuff to work with. Since I read music I would like some work of an immediate level to work on but I cannot find on internet. Is classical more fingerpicking or struming? I also do not know if I should strum or pluck 2 or 3 strings together. Sort of confused on how to get started. I know a teacher would help, however finding one here who speaks English and teaches classical guitar might be hard to come by. Maybe in Bangkok but that is a couple of hundred miles away. Maybe a lot of good advice from members here would help with recommendations for downloading decent material and maybe a good book.

Get a teacher if at all possible. Beginning classical is 99% technical.

Christopher Parkening volume 1 has really good pieces for giving you some good basic right hand technique. Frederick Noad is classic and good, but you REALLY need a teacher for technique if you're going to start with single note (Noad) versus more arpeggiated pieces, like in Christopher parkening .

Definitely a good teacher is helpful. Here is a good link to start for all levels of music.

Do you want to learn classical pieces on your classical guitar?

Or other types of music?

For purely classical music, then the best forum is delcamp. They also have lessons and sheet music over there. People are very helpful on the forum.

I am not really a fan of classical music as a whole. However, there is a large selection of classical music that I do really like on guitar. Much it being Spanish.

May I have the link to "delcamp"? I will check them out. Thank you.

There are many Spanish style pieces you can play of all levels, I'm sure these guys will help you locate them.

A huge amount of free classical guitar scores on the internet, for example
https://classicalguitarshed.com/free...r-sheet-music/

Try google using pdf term, for example: classical guitar music pdf

Well, to get started play a chord (C, D or any chord). Strum down with your thumb on the 4th string (D), then up with your first finger on the 3rd string (G), then up with your middle finger on the 2nd string (B) then up with your 3rd finger on the 1st string (E) then up with your middle finger on the 2nd string then up with your first finger on the 3rd string.

Repeat this over and over until you can do it smoothly and continuously. When changing chords, continue the same finger picking pattern. Alternate the thumb on the 4th, 5th or 6th stings or strum them together to suit.

Works well for songs like "Where Have All the Flowers Gone", "Blowing in the Wind" etc.

Classical guitar is a fingerpicking style, using flesh and nails, no fingerpicks and picks. Strumming is done occasionally. Obviously you can play chord progressions as guitar george suggested, but that's not what classical guitar music is about (at least in my opinion). For me it's about bringing together melody, bass line and chords on one instrument. This won't be very different from what the steel string fingerpickers are often doing, except we use nylon strung guitars.

No need to play classical music, there's a lot of South American music or modern music available. O, and classical guitarists normally use standard notation. When you search for 'classical guitar score', there's enough to find.

Delcamp is on http://www.classicalguitardelcamp.com

Even though you're not a big fan of classical music, these pages may be a start in the style of playing:
