An offbeat question:

I watched the Alamo Music demo of this guitar, and I started out with a bad case of “dancing bear syndrome”, where I was very impressed, not by how well it did all the things it tried to do, but that it did them at all.

But then a little critical thinking kicked in. As an electric guitar, it’s really pretty lame. As an acoustic guitar, apart from the electrickery, it’s probably not very great. What was impressive, to me, was the modeling software that was applied to the acoustic sensors.

So here’s the question: Let’s say you took a decent-ish acoustic guitar, maybe a smaller bodied one, and put some decent sensors on it. Is there a modeling box that will let you do this stuff with it? Not the electric stuff, just the acoustic stuff.

It’s funny-looking.
And I play a Godin Multiac...with a Les Paul neck.
But if I could get credible sound out of it, and it didn’t cost 2 grand, I could be convinced.

Several people have commented on the Anderton video, but somehow the video didn't get posted, so here it is:

I also like the Reverb video, the song at the end shows it off well.

The video is great - but please dont forget the pedals and effects- their using
I will go to my local fender dealer and play this new model when they start getting them

All i can remember is the Fender thin hollow body acoustic from years back
that was a really bad idea ( not very good )

I think its really cool and probably a lot of fun but think the novelty would wear off rather quickly for me. But I do like the concept...and it'll be interesting to see how well they sell. Got a cool vibe...but I already have a winter NAMM guitar coming at some point this spring!

Not impressed. Good tool for an all around player but nothing like a non-modelled, great acoustic guitar to keep me happy.

Honestly, it's somewhat upsetting to me that just because this is made by Fender, it automatically gets so much attention. However, then there's Godin, a company that has been innovating for years, yet they don't always get the praise. Godin is popular but their Multiac guitars are incredible and many of them use the Fishman/Spectrum set up with a humbucker pickup. They are usable and serve a purpose, this Fender model just seems like a novelty item.

It is interesting and another color in the tonal palette for some folks I’m sure. As I put my tongue firmly in my cheek this thread is right below the “wood makes no difference study” thread......someone went through a lot of trouble to model something that makes no difference.....at least in the world of academia.

I would be interested in checking it out in person if for nothing other than curiosity.

I bought one today. Why not, it’s only money and I’ll make more.

I own a couple of fine acoustics and I didn’t get this to replace them. Of course not! I play because I love to and It’s loads of fun. I’m an artist and my guitars, amps and effects are my palette. When I’m inspired I play even better. I often play the lead role with other musicians and this guitar will be fun for that. I wouldn’t have bought it if I only played at home, I prefer a dreadnaught for that, but I’m sure to have fun playing it live!

I have a T5 too, but the T5 definitely leans more electric. This will be a better fit for my style.

The videos are brilliant at showing this thing off.
If they've got a 1-3/4" nut, i'm hooked.
