For the year or so I've used the D'Addario EJ19 set. It's designed for bluegrass playing (medium bottom strings and light top strings).* Gauges: 12-16-25-35-45-56.

Works really well to my ears. They're comfortable to play, fairly inexpensive and give me a well balanced tone.

Finally ordered and received the strings from Curt Mangan. 14-18-26-36-46-56 works for me. Much more consistent for a dedicated DADGAD guitar. I could see maybe the Elixir HD strings if switching back and forth.

Where did you find them? I'd like to try them on a couple of my dadgad guitars.

D'Addario EJ-24. Guages are: 13 17 24 32 42 56 (Medium low E, and treble strings, light gauge A, D, and G).

Perfect for DADGAD, in my opinion. Sound great in standard as well.

Definitely agree as afar as DADGAD and C tunings go, but I found them to be perhaps too much of a handful in standard. Makes the guitar really loud though!

I got the coated strings. I suppose it would have been smarter for me to try the non-coated strings in case I didn't like them. No complaints so far. Not sure how long the coated strings will last compared to the usual suspects.

Thanks. I hunted for them last night and found their website. I was apprehensive about going that high in gauge so I stuck with mediums. I ordered two sets of roundcores - a set of monels and a set of PB. I've never used this brand before.

I talked to a few guys about the gauges, tuning, and overall tension. Tension is about 6lbs more than regular medium strings when kept in DADGAD. I'd never tune these strings to standard.
