I play a lot of tunes in DADGAD but don’t have a dedicated guitar. I’ll tune whichever instrument suits my mood. If I’m performing, I’ll bring at least two guitars with one tuned to DADGAD. Sometimes I’ll bring a third instrument tuned to drop D or DGDGBE. I use John Pearse Nuages lights on most of my guitars and find they work well no matter the tuning.

Pretty much, my Yamamoto MS-12 lives in DADGAD, and the other Yamamoto (Talus VS-12) and my custom Martin 000/OM-18 usually is in DADGAD but not always. I don't use anything special sets of strings, just stock 12s for the 6 stringers, and 10s for the 12 string.

Used to keep one guitar in DADGAD but not at the moment. I use Newtone strings and they give you a couple of options:
Heritage (low tensios)DADGAD set - https://newtonestrings.com/shop/heri...stic-6-string/
Custom sets, where you decide on each string individually - https://newtonestrings.com/shop/cust...ng-guitar-set/

I order direct - they are fast and friendly, and the postage is very cheap.

For me they sound and feel good in standard tuning, but also in dadgad.
I also use Elixir Phosphor Bronze HD lights on my Lowden O25c. The high E and B strings are mediums (0.013 & 0.017) and I swap out the low E for a medium 0.056. This gives me relatively even tension across the strings and avoids any string being too sloppy. This set is pretty good tuned down to C tunings on the right guitar. Have tried other brand dedicated sets, but the feel and longevity of the Elixir combination remains my preference.

D'Addario DADGAD set on my Avalon L32C, which was set up for those strings and that tuning. I did actually have to give the truss rod a tiny turn to get it just right for CGCGCD too, which I use a lot.

Thanks. I'll keep those in mind.

Curt Mangan also does custom sets. In a perfect world, Elixir would release some DADGAD sets.

My guitars go from Standard to DADGAD frequently. Since SCGC gave me Medium Tension Strings when they regretted my Dread Cutaway recently, I tune it to the Low C equivalent of DADGAD.

Otherwise, I stick to Elixir Nanoweb Mediums or Lights.

I play almost exclusively in DADGAD and use Elixir 12-53 PB nano's. I'm very happy with how they work and don't feel any need to adjust the gauges. I hope that helps!

Their HD Lights are very similar.

Default true medium

GHS signature series also has a true medium gauge Laurence Juber string-LJ40- though his name is no longer attached to them. The plain strings are a cryogenically treated brass, nice and warm and full. D'Addarrio EJ-24s are cheaper but a little less full in tone and don't last nearly as long. All the major manufactures make their own version of true medium, but the concept is the same, medium gauge strings on the E,B,E strings (the ones detuned) and lights for the rest. I like them so well I keep them on my standard tuned acoustics now.

I use D'Addario EJ19 strings, which is a bluegrass set (light top/medium bottom) on my all hog Sigma 000. Works for me. That guitar pretty much stays in DADGAD.

From a logistics/sanity check, would lower action be getting in my way? I feel like the 12s and 13s are nicely balanced in standard tuning and dropped D is passable. I don't play with heavy technique.
