ENOUGH ALREADY! (Winter rant...)
Well, today is the 9th of April 2019. Looking at this 5-minute old picture out of my front door, it looks more like the 96th of January or something! I can handle winter pretty well but I am seriously losing patience with this one. The snow should be gone by now, the lake should be thawed, the flowers should be doing their thing and I should be out getting my boat ready. But no, not this year! It's all frozen solid and with a nasty freezing rain right now. ENOUGH ALREADY!

We have two nice days and the famous Frankie McDonald I adore has us back in his news.
Friends in my outdoor sports circles work at USGS, and in climate research. Stuff that's funded to aid ag and transportation. When we do our bike rides and skiing they tell me the swings we're seeing are a trend we probably have to get used to. I'm fine with the snow but don't want the flooding we had to repeat. Late last year blew away the records and the water tables are still high so it's made this spring more difficult and made roads worse than ever. Frankie's been correct with his forecasts and warnings for my area this past winter but we don't order the pizza or soda.

Not comparable, but we've had a long, rainy winter here in Northern California as well. We needed it, but when it started raining again last night I was about done. Per the long-range forecast, it does appear to be done as of this morning, finally.
Record snows in the mountains and huge rain totals this year. Drought appears to be over. |

I've seen it snow as late mid-to-late April here in the mountains of NC.
Even still, I'm pretty over it as well (and luckily, it looks like we are pretty much done until blackberry winter). |

Our rivers crested flood stage late yesterday afternoon. With the drought of the past several years, we needed the rain. The countless standing dead trees is frightening.

Everyone here in Minnesota is bracing for a snow storm due overnight Wednesday into Tuesday. Oops! My time machine broke and so I must have meant Wednesday-Thursday
And Monday was my best chance to get my winter fat tire snow bike in for it's post-winter servicing, so it'll be in the shop when the snow hits. Oh well, I've got my old winter ride, a much narrower-tired hybrid that still has it's studded tires mounted. If things go as predicted, this'll be the second big mid-April spring snow storm in a row for our area. On the good side, other than sitting on the porch and picking, the weather doesn't stop us from playing guitar....

You have my sympathies, Daniel. I can't imagine looking at that in April. I've seen snow in Connecticut as late as mid May, but it doesn't hang around like that!
I find it is the length of the winter as opposed to the number of storms that wears on me. Yesterday it was supposed to be in the mid 60's here in southern New England, but the front stalled just to our west and we had mid 40's and rain, and more of the same today for opening day at Fenway Park. I was pretty bummed when I heard that it hit 80 degrees in Newark, NJ yesterday, just over 100 miles to our west. But your picture kind of puts it in perspective for me. Canada is cold!

Yesterday (4/8/19) my wife and I had lunch on the patio deck at The Fisherman which is a nice casual restaurant on the San Clemente pier. Warm and sunny after an extended rainy winter season for us. The drought is over. Sorry for those that live in winter regions. But please don't move here.

Yea, we had a snowstorm last night. Only about 10 cm (4") and it should be gone in a couple of days.

It's low eighties here in Charlottesville, and our hometown team won the NCAA basketball tournament last night. This day could only improve if I won the lottery...

We have maybe slightly more and later snow than average, but I guess our situation is not typical (Being 8000 ft on the west slope of the Rockies )
So here is the house and driveway couple days ago We have 3/4 mile of driveway and access road to plow. But then again we also have what my brother calls "The Machines of Winter " to deal with it . If it helps keep the fires away bring it on His and hers Tractors and a Skid Steer My 37 HP Kabota/with snowblower on rear PTO Her 35 HP New Holland /with snowblower on rear PTO (Thats a Honda walking snowblower peaking on the left side of photo ) Our 74 HP JCB Skid Steer with enclosed heated cab and drivers seat /with Hi Flow front snowblower
