Default Yamaha Factory Tour in China. You gotta see this!

Hi all you Yammie fans, and others.

I haven't posted this in a long time. If you love Yamaha as much as I do, you will enjoy this. As a company that worships quality as much, or more, than anyone in the industry, I am so grateful to have them in our world.

In this one plant in China, they produce over half a million (!) guitars a year.

From what I understand -- someone please correct me if I'm wrong -- what separates them from so many other Asian guitar makers is that they typically don't sub or farm out their work to other sub-vendors. So I believe this is all Yamaha employees in this vid.

Very impressive.

What a truly amazing company.

Enjoy!

Scott

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed it. I have become more and more impressed with Yamaha’s guitars, in fact today I bought an APX500lll as a present to my youngest sister because one of the gents I jam with has one and boy are they a lot of guitar for peanuts.

Thanks for posting!

I have 2 Chinese Yammy's in my stable and they are both GREAT instruments. They definitely know what they are doing over there.

I can't say the same about Eastman. A lot of QC problems over there.

That's news to me, haven't heard of any chronic issues. Would you please elaborate.
Anyway, why attack another manufacturer in a Yamaha thread?

That wood drying room probably has a nice aroma.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I just bought a 2011 FG700S that would have been make there. I'll adjust the saddle this weekend, and am expecting good things.

Just wrote a post about my newly acquired LL16L that I got based on the happiness my FG820 brought.

I'm all about Yamaha acoustics right now. Thanks for the share.

The Walden guitar company tried to follow this model (overseas company that ONLY builds Waldens and nothing else), but they failed. Good to see it's working for Yamaha.

Thanks for posting the video. I remember seeing it a few years back but I'm a Yamaha fan since childhood so I never tire of all things Yamaha. I've owned several over the years and I am always impressed with their quality right out of the box.

As a female guitar player, I was pleased and proud to see so many women along all stages of the building process. Though I can imagine, as with any production job, it must get tiresome undergoing such repetition given the 500k yearly output.

Hi, All. So pleased to see you're all enjoying this one as much as I have.

Hey, a question. I heard a rumor years ago that Yamaha actually owns a couple forests for their wood needs. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this, or are this just another urban legend.

Love Yamaha. What a company.

Thanks for posting. I admit that I was previously not a Yamaha fan, but I've changed my mind. They make some of the best inexpensive guitars. Just tonight I was killing time at the local GC and was back in the room where the expensive Taylors and Martins were. Then I came out and saw a $499 A1MVN and strummed it. Darn... Its sound rivaled the $2200 Taylor 414ce.

This past march I got a killer deal on a Yamaha TRBX605FM bass and I gotta say the workmanship is incredible. It sounds great. I've seen basses for 4 times what I paid that I didn't like as well.

And then there is the Yamaha woodwind division. They've pretty much taken over in many areas. Many artists are now playing Yamaha instruments. I'm not sure why their guitars and basses haven't begun to dominate much like their woodwinds and brasswinds. You even see a lot of Yamaha pianos.

I guess they don't just make motorcycles any more .

Great video. It seems when Yamaha decides to do something they generally do it right. I love my Yamaha amplifier.

I own two incredible Yamaha keyboards. They go through hundreds of gigs each year and almost never let me down. My Yamaha HS8 studio monitors sound like expensive headphones.
And I own the LL-TA guitar which I adore. I played the FS-TA, and it sounded fantastic without the reverb.
Nevertheless, I liked the video tour of Yamaha's Japanese factory much more. The atmosphere was much more quiet and serene. The Chinese guitars are made with precision, but I sense that the Japanese guitars are made with precision AND love.
