Default What brand of strings for an Emerald Amicus 12?

Hi Folks,

I just bought an Amicus 12 from a fellow AGFer and was wondering what brand or type of strings to buy as replacements. I'm not sure what brand of strings Alistair uses at the "factory." I know where to get strings for this instrument thanks to another AFG thread, just wondering about plain versus coated strings, etc. Any of you with an Amicus 12 care to chime in on what strings you have used and your experiences?

Thanks much,

Bill

I like Elixir Nanoweb Xtra lights... there ARE allot of strings under pressure on this baby and sometimes it feels like I am playing a cheese grater with my finger tips. Not the guitars fault... the lighter the strings the better...

Kramster,

I did contact Alistair about this. His response was that they use a generic phosphor bronze (uncoated most likely) string and that I should try a variety to see what I like.

Fixedgear60,

Thanks for your response. I have ordered some D'Addario phosphor bronze EXP (coated) strings from Strings and Beyond, as they sell single strings in the recommended gauges for the Amicus at reasonable prices. They were about half the price of the Elixir PB nanowebs (when you buy individual strings anyway). It is a good thing strings are made in such light gauges (i.e. .09, etc.) as it makes this instrument much more comfortable to play.
