Heck of a songwriter. He's one of my favorites and yes, he is the whole package.

Best,
Jayne

I love that song. One of my favorites to play. Of course, my version is 1000x easier than his ...

Outstanding musician. I discovered him several years ago. You would think he'd have a ton of fans on this forum.

I would submit that this opus is one of those lightning in a bottle songs. An amazing song. The lyrics, melody, harmonic and rhythm component, emotional content, the arc of the story. . . . Can you tell I like this tune and his talent to deliver it : )?

His will is on display and his gift is ample.

Perhaps if Darrell Scott did this 50 years ago he would of charted on pop radio and featured on many TV shows?

I had the pleasure and privilege of spending a week with Darrell, on a song writing workshop a few years ago. Great fun.

Oh my - that was just excellent. Thanks for posting, and introducing someone who's completely new to me.

I love that style of playing.

One of those performances that actually creates a shiver down my spine every time I listen to it.

Default Darrell Scott

One of my favorite pairings is Darrell Scott with Tim O'Brien.
"Real time" album is great as it's all recorded live in a house with just the two of them.

River Take Me is a great song and very hard to cover. I worked out an arrangement some years ago, but it was tough to do everything that he does. I had trouble doing a creditable job on the solo part. He is such a good singer, such an emotional performer, and really, a killer guitar player.

The good thing about trying to figure out Darrell Scott's music is that you will very likely learn some new things on the guitar. He is a very inventive player. I really love his stuff!

I think River Take Me is the first Darrell Scott song I was exposed to, though the one I heard is this one, recorded on his old Taylor dreadnought. The sound is great on this recording, too, though it's a somewhat different arrangement.

Had the pleasure of seeing him live at the BlueBird Cafe in Nashville in the round with 4 other Nashville hit songwriters during the Tin Pan South Festival , and also a few years later at The Targee Bluegrass Festival

Here are two of my favorites of his which I cover
