1919 Gibson Style O Artist - need tailpiece
I am restoring a 1919 Gibson Style O Artist guitar.
I am looking for an original or similar tailpiece. Any other models from this time period that had the same tailpiece? Last edited by pablojones; 03-31-2020 at 09:39 AM. |

That's going to be a hard part to find. In 1919 they used that tailpiece that has the 6 individual poll pieces. I don't believe it was used on any other guitars.
The Style O's from the 20's used the standard/generic Gibson archtop tailpiece which was made literally for decades and is pretty easy to find on ebay. If you can't find one from 1919, one of these later ones would work fine and are actually a better tailpiece. Good luck! |

Yeah I have been looking for awhile now and found one on Reverb and a different old Gibson one on eBay but with the matching hole pattern.
I could not bid on either as because of Covid, I lost my job and didn't have the $. I have money now though. I see that the old Gibson L1, L2, L3 will work bur can't find those either. The newer model tailpiece you mentioned would cover the hole for guitar strap pin. Any other models that has those 3 screw holes with the bigger hole for guitar strap pin? T |
