Default A call for John Prine covers

I don't have the equipment (or talent) to do a JP cover but for those who do let's send some love and healing energy to one of the greats by covering one of his songs.

His wife says he's stabilized now - good news. Here's a little more obscure tune that's a bit of a tongue twister

This is an instructional video on Travis Picking based around John Prine's version of "Clay Pigeons" written by Blaze Foley.

All the best to John Prine and his family!

Not a cover but a nice, and interesting, nod to John Prine from Bill Murray.

I've got a few covers of John Prine's tunes on my YT channel. Here are a couple I'm particularly fond of:

I covered John's cover of Rowland Salley's "Killin' the Blues". That's the first time I picked up a dobro, so it was a fun little recording.

My good friend Shelley and I did this cover of "Angel from Montgomery" while recording some of my own music:

"Hello in There" is my favourite song.

Great work Brent and thanks to Jim, Todd, Glenn, and Gtrguy and the others for jumping in with a little John Prine love as well. I'm sure that all the covers from not only music icons but also from folks on guitar forums buoy the spirts and warm the hearts of John and his wife during this difficult time.

Stay well all.

Rob

I play One Red Rose, Far From Me, and Please Don't Bury Me pretty regularly in my living room sets, but alas, no recordings exist. (You can thank me later.)

So I thought I'd add my favorite clip of the man himself. It shows his humor, kindness, and storytelling abilities better than anything else I've found. All his fans have heard the Happy Enchilada story, but here he tempers it by owning up to a misheard lyric of his own. We're all in this crazy life together, it seems. Thinking of you often, John Prine.

B-Nads, nice work on "Hello in There". Also one of my favorites, and I can't add to your excellent rendition. Thanks for sharing your music with us.
