Sub $60 voice recorder?
My birthday is coming up soon. My sisters are probably aching on wanting to know what I want. I don't want to ask too much.
So a $60 or less voice recorder will do. I don't need it to be fancy quality in sound. Just something that I can record myself singing and then pressing a simple button to hear what I sound like. Please leave thoughts below, thanks!

A smartphone will work perfectly well for that. You probably won't find many voice recorders at your price point that will sound much better (tho someone may prove me wrong).
The weak point of most inexpensive recorders is the mic, so maybe get a bit better mic that will plug in to your phone, to give better results in whatever recording app you choose. Something like the Rode VideoMic-ME or iRig Mic are right at that $60 mark. |

If you have a recent smartphone from any major brand (Apple, Samsung, et al) that is going to record as well as any $60 recorder. A friend records on a cheap Android phone - I don't know what it is, but I know he's cheap - and it does a fine job.
Maybe you could get an online [Zoom] voice lesson or 2 for the money, assuming you have a decent phone?

I use the free app "Music Memos" on Iphone. My dad uses "Spire" on Iphone.

Assuming you do have a smartphone, I realize a Zoom iQ6 at Sweetwater for $99 is above your budget, but it might be a good option if you can raise the extra $.

I own a Zoom H1 and just posted about using it for home recordings.
Look at my thread and consider getting one of these units. They are around $99.99 at Guitar Center.

I sold it and purchased a Tascam DR-05 which is similarly priced and a much higher quality recorder IMHO. Last edited by Rudy4; 09-07-2020 at 08:42 PM. |

Thanks bunch! I did some research and wanted one with playback capability. I also wanted not to break the bank. I decided to get this one,

I had a Tascam DR-05 I got on sale for $50 that I used for about 10 years and it was great. Recently upgraded to the DR-40 now though. If you go to used on this page, there's used (like new) DR-05 for $61: https://www.amazon.com/Tascam-TASCAM...tronics&sr=1-4

Thanks guys. I just ordered a DR-05x with my early bday money. A bit more expensive than what I had originally planned.

Combine it with a Creative Movo 20 and you'll have yourself a very nice basic recording rig: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=592568 |
