The Inheritance Cycle series is excellent - not sure about what's happening to the fabled film/TV adaptation. Must check out his non-dragon works.

Just finished 'Excalibur', the third and final book of the series.

These books have to be some of the best I have ever read. I will certainly be digging into other writings by Cornwall.

Currently rereading the 'Poke Rafferty' series of novels from Timothy Hallinan. A marvelous immersive dive into the diverse culture of Thailand.

My wife's book club read "The Women" by Kristen Hannah. When she was done with it, I picked it up.

It turned out to be a good read. Interesting to read a book on war written from a woman's perspective.

It was a bit "hallmarkish" in places, but very relevant to those of us that grew up in the Vietnam War era.

Just finished "A Gentleman in Moscow" and "The Lincoln Highway". Beautifully written, evocative works of art.

"All the Shah's Men" by Stephen Kinzer. It is about Operation Ajax, USA's involvement in the Iranian coup in the early 1950s. Interesting book and helps explain the source some of the present day issues with US-Iran relations.

Allen Dulles and his brother played parts in this book as well. Seems Ike wanted to limit his personal involvement with Operation Ajax, and let the Dulles bros run the show.

I am reading Steven Pinker's Rationality, and got a free (not really) Amazon Prime credit for audio version to speed it up because I have a tough schedule to just sit and read this month, and a bunch of 1.5 - 3 hours driving.

So far I can say it is a very good read for these times. I like behavioral economics stuff, and trying to be mindful of cognitive biases. In addition to a rationality a good topic for the behavior of competitiveness of nations, I've got my final year of work where it is a good topic for someone with my responsibilities. Infrastructure and InfoSec are fact sorts of areas. Supervising up to 1000 people means a lot who don't or can't get a fact, logic and rational operation.

1/2 way through Paris Echo by Sebastian Faulks. For me, one of his more enjoyable books. I find him to be a bit inconsistent, some of his books have really moved me, others not so much.

Well, if Talbot's book is accurate then the Dulles brothers were running the show for more than 20 years. The damage they did was probably the source of many of our problems. All the Shah's Men looks interesting. I'll have to check it out. The Devil's Chessboard had a chapter on the Iranian coup, but I'd be interested in learning more.

And I am now interested in Talbot's book. I will add it to my list.

My wife and I read out loud to each other every afternoon. She had read "A Gentleman in Moscow" twice in the past but was afraid I wouldn't care for it. We just started this book as our new book for afternoon reading and I'm really liking it. It is beautifully written.
