Laminate
Weighing in on the laminate issue, as it's something I looked into when I was studying up on Yairi's.
I'm sure it's covered elsewhere on the forum but thought I'd mention it because I think there's some misconceptions out there. People get frazzled by the word "laminate." Yairi would (and I assume the shop still does) take two or three thin "sheets" of the tonewood and stack them together to make the guitar stronger and more weather/humidity resistant. Not a veneer of rosewood stacked over a lesser/cheaper wood, for example. So it's not the lamination that we've typically come to think of when we hear that word. It's like three sheets of rosewood. The sound of his instruments speaks for themselves.
