Someone left a mic out in the rain...

..and I don't think I can fix it.
'Cause it took so long to make it.
Now it must go back to Shure Brothers agaaaaaain....
Oh, no!

Friday fun.

In reality the mic is in a holding pattern. We own five Super 55s and a couple of 55s. I started the process of a repair and found out that by the time we pay flat rate repair, taxes, and shipping, we will have spent about $140 to repair i. That's 70% of the cost of the mic! You can buy a mint condition 55 for $114 or a mint Super 55 for $150 on Reverb.

So now it will grace the producer's desk in my suite until its disposition is decided upon.

It is beautifully designed. Kind of an industrial art object.
Looks a bit like the front grill of a '37 Cord automobile.

Good guess! It was based on the '37 Oldsmobile Coupes:

Ahhh. Definitely sharing the same design DNA.

Inspiration can come from unlikely sources sometimes.
