I'm lucky enough to own one of the first Cocobolo X20's they made a few years ago and it still makes me smile to see it sitting in the stand. Such a beauty and a great guitar to boot!

Several hours in and they are all still available! Usually by the first post here, at least two are gone already.

I might think about one of the X30 coco's, but my red X30 is more than enough for me.

I think I got essentially the same stock X7 a couple months early for a few hundred $$ less. I don't know if this is new pricing or if there's a premium on the select series, but if it's new 2019 prices, I'm glad I didn't wait...

Still, lovely guitars, more great cocobolo veneers...

That was my thinking when ordering my X30 is early December. I was intrigued by Kramster's woody X30, and certainly did not need another CF guitar. But I figured that dawdling much past the new year, it might cost even more. (Just checked, and the prices have not changed from when I ordered a month ago).

I was thinking the same thing - all still available! I know the coco's have been very popular so maybe that is saturated? Then there are all of us that have done the custom orders so if you're going to lay out that kind of cash you might also want to tailor it to your exact desires!

If I was in the market for an X30 that first one (the same as the one above) would be a beautiful addition and perfect big brother to my X20 cocobolo!

All i see on that X30 is two sad squirrels looking at each other.

From a glance through the past select series, prices have been a bit variable but these are the most expensive. I can't imagine people are tired of the cocobolo though!

HA! Now all I can see is two meerkats that have popped out of their holes looking at each other!!

I don't think people are tired of cocobolo... I just think that those that love it have already bought it!

Since Emerald is the only CF builder capable of making woody veneers, and the Select Series have generally sold out almost immediately, maybe the prices reflect that level of demand. Why underbid yourself?

And now we have Rorschach guitar tests instead of ink blots....

I can think of a couple of past woody tops that suggested other images that cannot be described here in a family forum. As the old saying goes, "A dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste".

I had an X7 select series that I came to see that shortly after receiving it and then I couldn't unsee it! It's the not the main reason I sold it off but it was part of the reason!

Couple (ok, a triple) of thoughts:

1) it's right after Christmas. Folks might be a little tapped out.
2) if you add up the cost of the extras for this series - veneer, pinless bridge, gold tuners - the price is pretty much in line with a custom order for the same spec
3) every time the next series is announced, it becomes my favourite so far.

Oh, and the soundtrack behind the short announcement video is one of the best I've heard to showcase the Emerald sound.

I missed the painless bridge and fancy tuners - I guess that would count for the upcharge over otherwise similar veneer models...
