USB mic?
In looking for a mic I saw this. It looks to be just what a poor, technically ignorant player needs. What do you thilnk?

I think the interface below plus any microphone is a better solution. It is simple, inexpensive and doesn't restrict one in terms of microphone choices.

Herb,
No problem. It's my guess they saw the Centrance stuff and popped out the lower price/value items. I have successfully plugged in the AxePort Pro and MicPort Pro into the same computer a MacBook and had them both operating in Garage Band simultaneously, btw. Regards, Ty Ford |

I have been using the Yeti USB microphone and it has really blown me away. Made by Blue its a reasonably priced microphone with a very versatile range. Plug and play out of the box, built well with a strong base and solid weight. The Blue Snowball is also a great value USB mic but has less features, to me the Yeti is the best bang for your buck.

I also have a Blue Yeti USB mic and have been quite happy with it. Having a separate interface and mic would certainly be more flexible in the long run, and might even provide somewhat better sound. But it would cost more. And more importantly, I really value the quick set up and take down of a USB mic, since I have neither the space to leave the recording gear set up nor a lot of time to spend on recording.
So if you want good quality with low cost and high convenience, I think a USB mic might be a good choice for you. Here are some examples of some of my first attempts at recordings made with the Yeti: http://www.youtube.com/user/fretstrummr?feature=mhum Last edited by SideshowBob; 11-07-2010 at 06:39 PM. |

Nice playing Bob! I think that Yeti sounds pretty good. I've been considering one and your demo about has me convinced to pull the trigger. Now if I could only play as well as you do.
Thanks, Will |

The Zoom H2 recorder doubles as a USB mike that seems to work pretty well.. might give you more bang for the buck if you're looking for both?
