Default Tascam x8

Anyone here using the Tascam Portacapture X8? It seems like a nice unit and semi-simple to use, so far. I really do not have a great deal of recording experience. I have been getting by with GarageBand but wanted something simpler to record with.
Any hints? Tips?

Am I the only person to buy one of these?

I have one and have been using it for a couple of years. It is an excellent recorder and I just figured out how to record using the separate inputs. I can also record off of a sound system with the proper adapter cables. Most of my SOundcloud songs are recorded off of the portacapture and the blue tooth connectivity works very well to reduce my fumbling with buttons when tryoing to record. I have it connected to a mic stand using the built in camara mount. Really pelased with the device. The firmware upgrades are done through the SD card though I think it can be done by direct computer connetion as well.

I had been looking at that unit. I decided to go with Audigo Labs wireless mic.

Yes, the touchscreen with 32 bit. Still learning about it, but so far I like the little unit. Have not used the included mics as yet.

I think I have only skimmed the surface of the functionality. Using the individual inputs gets you to a mixing screen. I found I can take the earbud output and run that directly into a PA system or an amp. Using wireless connectors for the instruments allows someone to mix the instruments from a few yards away.

Sorry, went with the Zoom offering. Seems like 32bit is the new standard in consumer devices, though. You might find the R4 thread useful, as some of it focuses on 32bit technology, not the zoom per se.
