I also do like the "warming up" argument. I could definitely see a piece of wood vibrating more after it has warmed up through body heat or from being outdoors. Makes sense.
my ears do vary in what they detect sometimes, however, not this much

firstly, other guitars usually sound same as last time I played them
secondly the Brz/Adi guitar sounds great from the first second with a plectrum, but un responsive with fingerstyle. As I said, the difference between plectrum and fingerstyle goes away after a while playing it
